Would be great to set up something so a person could meet others when traveling
The wife and I do a lot of traveling and would be great to meet some of you
some where be a casino, a small diner for a meal or just a few minutes to say hi
Maybe get info on an area you live in or we live in or have been
Is there any interest in something like this

We did a gathering in Vegas prolly about 10 years ago--it was lots of fun. I've always enjoyed meeting members (ok, one time I didn't)--maybe we should think of doing a GG get-together later in the year?

have a vegas meeting

have a vegas meeting

That would not be a bad idea .Would need plenty of notice so we could drive out
Planes and I do not mesh well together
If enough people are close enough maybe meet in New Mexico or even Okla or even Louisiana ,or Colorado
The drawback to Vegas would possibly be cost prohibitive to a lot of members

Being that everyone here is a gambler I would think it wouldn't cost you anything. There is tons of casinos around Palm Springs area. I wouldn't mind meeting up in the desert but I personally doubt I would go fly to Vegas to meet up. I just have not had a desire to go to Vegas in a very long time

Not so much in money to gamble but when you take air fare, rooms and meals into account it could add up
I do not get on planes period
A person could drop 200 on a day or two pulling a slot handle when you add the other charges it could be a little stiff
Maybe find a place central to a lot of us somewhere else

Hey Docs,
Just make sure you don't let Greedy pick out the casino to meet up!

Not that I'm bitter, but when I was in California several years ago, I let her set up a meeting at a "casino" located in the wilderness of California mountains.

Seeing how I wasn't familiar with the area, I was putting all my trust in her judgment and let her choose the casino of her choice "CLOSE to L.A." where we were staying.

But alas....it was so far in the middle of the boondocks that:

-None of the roads showed up on my GPS.

-It took 5 harrowing, anxious hours.

-There were only two road signs (both hand written with a paint brush).

-When I stopped to ask for directions for the 5th and last time at a fruit stand, the guy was playing "Deliverance" on his banjo.

-The nearest McDonald's was three hours away.

and the roads/paths were ONE lane, DIRT, dark, curvy and muddy from a recent downpour.

The casino lobby was "picturesque" though but not worth me almost running off a cliff several times.

However, the goal was to meet Greedy and Deeds which was accomplished after hours of anxiety and panic.
Of course, we were tossed aside after 10 minutes so they could "attempt" to broadcast a Funday Sunday chat (get sh..t faced drunk) but couldn't because there was no wireless connection!

Imagine no wireless connection in such a POPULATED, MAIN stream area! Say it ain't so! (I was surprised they even had electricity).

So be cautious and if Greedy does choose a casino, make sure it's in a populated area with paved roads.

Cautiously concerned,

Jimebear

I will for sure keep that in mind
I can't really say that it would bother me to much as we like that sense of adventure of traveling unknown roads and searching unknown areas
I must share a trip with the wife at some point

omg how freakin funny! I am thinking Sycuan? I remember many drives like only to well! My x lived in San Diego and I would take the scenic route before I even got to his house. First Morongo then Penchanga then down in the depths of nowhere a casino that is jammed packed with people from who knows where Sycuan. Not sure of spelling and after the amount of money they took me for I am not going give them the courtesy of looking it up. On a side note and I found this interesting however I am not sure how true it is....I met a girl a few months back I had taken my lil greedyboy to the indian powow at a casino in the desert and her and I just hit it off..They were having a powwow and she used to be married to someone from the sycuan tribe...anyways to make a long story short...( yah yah yah I know I dont do that very well) the indians in that tribe get $50k per month from the casino. I have heard of some nice amounts with other tribes but this is really 3x the amount of anyone else I have ever heard. Maybe we should start another thread but to be honest Im really busy right now so maybe I can continue this the right way...sigh I wish I could write like greedygirl Now she can write!

If you members want to plan (and pay for!) my wedding, Joe and I will be there. Just let us know when. :D

John's brother goes to Sycuan every Tuesday for Senior day. He gets five dollars every Tuesday and does pretty good. About five months ago, the new pest control company for the complex was spraying all of the apartments, so everyone had to leave for about four hours. So here we were, John, I, a 18 yr old cat, a 9 year old cat, and a 6 month old cat, all in separate carriers packing into a 2004 Chavy Cavalier and decided to just drive, drive, drive. We went through Santee and decided to continue east along Interstate 8, past the Barona exit, past the Sycuan exit, then we went down the old route 66 highway, passed the famous hotel featured in the Bagdad Cafe movie, then made our way to the Acorn Casino. The acorn Casino is I think one of the smallest of all of the casino's in San diego. So John went inside for a few while I sat in the car watching the kids. About 20 miles before arriving the three kids have all decided that they didn't want to stay in the carriers and were all in different spots in the car. After about 20 minutes, John came back and gave me $20 and told me to go and check out the casino, since I have never been there. I walked in, looked around and managed to find a slot machine that was similar to one that I play on facebook. So I started with pennies, won a few, went to nickels, won some more, then I started getting braver and braver the more I won. Then I hit something that looked pretty good, but since I didn't have my glassed, I couldnt tell for sure, but then I checked my balance and wham over $600.00 credits. Since about 15 minutes had passed away, with John and the kids still outside in the car, I made my way to the cash out button, cashed in my ticket and we went home with a $580.00 profit. I then told John "Geico will save you 15% in fifteen minutes, but Acorn will win you $600.00 in fifteen minutes.
