• Hi and welcome to GoneGambling

Lance Corporal Joshua Leaky VC, Parachute Regiment.

Pickled Onion
I would like you all to see this young man and read about his act of valour.
Part of the operation mentions that he risked his life in a very difficult exposed position to save the life of a wounded US marine officer, what it does not mention is that he also stayed with the others and gave up his position in a rescue helicopter so that the wounded marine could be evacuated safely.
A fine soldier and a good ally that anybody would have by their side when there is hot metal flying around.
(US equivalent to Lance Corporal is PFC)
(The Victoria Cross equivalent is the Congressional Medal of Honour).

Waht an Honor

Waht an Honor

Just read this.
You can't truly understand the meaning behind something like this unless you have been there
Not every soldier would have done this.
As I read this it made the hair on my arms stand up and returned memories of years gone by
One does have that certain amount of guilt when are awarded something special such as this
I salute and praise him for his heroism
Thanks for sharing
