THE EMAIL PART:

It`s the last `official` day of the GG Wedding Reception! While I love doing stuff like this for our members, personally, I`m ready to get past the wedding...past the reception...and on to the honeymoon, already! Only problem is that Joe and I haven`t even had a real discussion on where/when to honeymoon! Story of my life...

You`re probably wondering "what`s today`s special treat," right? Well, once again, it`s contained right here in this very email! And once again, while you may feel initially disappointed that you`re only getting a couple GetLucky`s, take a breath: These are those very cool "Bonus" GetLucky`s! You may want to get some depositing in at your favorite casinos, just in case! Just sayin`!

And don`t forget, the WinADay Sweepstakes is running, so if you want in on those giant casino cash prizes, get your entries in!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

I`ve added more wedding stuff to the Newsletter section of the forum. It`s gonna be another day or two before the whole crazy story is wrapped up, but at least I`m getting close! It`ll be worth it. Trust me. ;)

AND NOW, MORE OF THE PRE-WEDDING SAGA:

I failed to mention in my last writing a couple of very important bits…

Three weeks before the move, I YELP’ed the heck out of Yelp, in search of the perfect dive-y restaurant for our wedding lunch. Fortunately, my best friend had to return to Vegas for her annual Beer Pong Championships, so she was able to check the place out and (hallelujah!) it was perfect! And best yet, the owners were amazing…willing to go along with all the craziness!

Just two weeks before the move, Deeds was haranguing me in chat about what I’d be wearing on the big day. I was feeling such pressure with that question! The stress was so overwhelming with everything else, I really didn’t care at that point if I wore an old sack. Seriously.

But Deeds’ needling got to me and I searched, scoured high and low for the perfect dress. With no luck. I FINALLY found an amazing dressmaker online, who of course lived halfway across the country. I got in touch with her and explained my problem: I want a very specific dress and I need it within two weeks. Can you do it???

After three days going back and forth in emails, we were able to agree on the design and I was somewhat confident that I’d have the perfect dress. Even less confident that it would arrive in time AND fit, but I couldn’t dwell on minor details!

So…

The day of our move, my beautiful wedding dress arrived. I couldn’t believe my eyes! The dressmaker managed to whip this puppy out in about a week’s time! It was perfect!

Almost.

Genuinely, it was beautiful and it was everything I hoped for, although it was much more than I hoped for. Literally. I could have fit another person inside the dress with me! As much as I would have loved to have worried about the dress at that moment, I couldn’t. I was in the middle of a move and the next few days had to be devoted to that task and nothing else. Besides, I knew a great tailor in town and for sure he could take the dress in. No worries!

I finally got around to getting over to the tailor on Sept. 12th—just 15 days before we had to leave for Vegas. My tailor friend looked at me and laughed! “Debbee, you DO realize I’m a tailor, right? This means I do MENSWEAR. NOT women’s clothing!” It made no sense to me. If someone can sew a man’s shirt, surely they could take in a dress, right? Apparently not. My tailor guy referred me to a seamstress and I rushed over to her workroom. She had me try the dress on for her—I’m quite certain the look on her face was not good. She asked when I’d be needing the dress to be finished. I told her no later than the 24th (figuring if it all went to hell, I’d have a day to scramble and find a ready-made dress or sack somewhere!). She steadied herself and told me she’d do her best, but it was going to cost me a pretty penny. I didn’t care at that point—just make it so it fits, please!

Thankfully, she did...and it was perfect! Everything's going my way!

Really, those last two weeks all flew by in a blur. Everything from ordering flowers to hiring help for the day to hunting shopping for items for the gift bags and on—I ate, drank and slept (very little!) everything wedding. I couldn’t wait for this thing to be over!
I had a friend in Vegas who assured me he could find a couple hostesses to take care of the guests aboard the bus. He also assured me he would be able to pin down a couple guys to drive the trail car (more on the whole ‘trail car’ thing in a moment).
I received confirmation on both the guys and girls my friend had told me about. Yes, they were available. Yes, they will work. Huge relief, as we were now only six days out from the wedding. The thought of going through an agency for help scared the heck out of me. Things were looking up!

Sept. 26th (the day before leaving for Vegas) arrived in the blink of an eye. I couldn’t believe we were packing to head off for our wedding! There was still SO much to do, but I had no choice but to push much of it off to deal with once arriving in Vegas. The good news was I’d have plenty of help with my best friend and my mom’s best friend coming to town early, for just that very reason.

Now, I’ve really only glossed over everything—if I was to list everything that had gone wrong leading up to leaving for the airport, you’d probably go postal for me! Seriously, I could fill a book the size of “War and Peace” if I listed everything that went sideways. I just wanted to get to Vegas and get on with things.

As we were landing at McCarran Airport, I remember saying to Joe how overwhelmed and frustrated I’d been with things. He reassured me and said, “don’t worry. We’re here now and things will only get better.”

Fifteen minutes after picking up the rental car, we were in an accident…rear-ended.

Yep. It’s getting SO much better!

I was so relieved when my best friend and my mom’s best friend arrived in Vegas. My best friend is more like a sister to me and my mom’s best friend has been a second mom to me since I was in my teens. They’re family, no two ways about it and they can bring me back to earth unlike anyone else.

I contacted the Business Center at Encore to request all the things I’d ordered and had shipped to the hotel be delivered to our suite. In quick fashion, the doorbell rang and somewhere behind a mass of cartons was a gentleman to deliver everything. I could not get over the sheer volume of stuff! Eighteen large boxes filled with everything from gift bags to barf bags to champagne glasses to paper goods. It overwhelmed the suite!

Straight away we began getting to the many tasks at hand and things were looking like they’d be coming together! My bestie and I had plans for the next day to visit the Neon Museum and also to meet with the restaurant where we’d be having the wedding lunch. From there we’d head off to buy all the booze for the Crawl and lastly, pick up the flowers we’d ordered for our arrangements.

By 10pm, we’d had enough of unpacking boxes and assembling this’ and that’s. We were hungry and also, I really wanted to see Bryan (Casinomeister) and some other friends who’d already arrived, so we headed downstairs to the bar where they serve yummy food and drinks. With a full tummy and one little cocktail, I was struggling to keep my eyes open…so, at 11:30, I was on my way back to our room to hit the hay. I don’t EVER remember being in bed that early in Vegas!

The next morning I woke up very early, busied myself with trying to hunt down a restaurant for a dinner we were having for our closest friends, Tuesday night. Did I forget to mention we were throwing a pre-wedding dinner for 18 people the night before the wedding? And that I had made no reservations anywhere until the day before??? Ooops! Got that sorted and then dashed off to the Neon Museum where I met my best friend and the site’s Event Coordinator. Things went smoothly there and I could finally visualize things going our way!

Until as I was heading to my rear-ended rental car and received a call from my Vegas friend. Remember…the guy who had organized the hostesses? He was calling to tell me that the ladies he’d found for me were going to be flaking on me. Something about a dead grandfather and an accident. I dunno and at that moment, I didn’t want to hear it. All I knew is that in 48 hours, the two people who were to be helping with all the drinks and guests were no-shows and I had no idea how to find anyone with such short notice.

My best friend and I went straight on to the restaurant and the owner and I spoke for a bit and I mentioned my latest predicament. “Debbee, I’m sure my daughter would love to pitch in and she has a friend that I’m sure would, as well.” Huh??? A solution? Really? I dared ask the three big questions: 1) Are they attractive? 2) Are they reliable? and 3) Do they have brains??? He answered an emphatic ‘yes’ to all three questions. He quickly called his daughter who promised to call me later in the day to go over things and believe it or not, she did! I was thrilled with this and once again, it was on to getting more stuff done!

While at the restaurant, I got another call. This time it was from one of my very closest friends in the online gambling industry—the owner of the Club World Group of casinos. I initially had asked that both he and Bryan Bailey walk me down the aisle and give me away, however, I knew he’d never be able to join us. It was the one thing that had crushed me in all this, that he’d be unable to be at the wedding. Anyhow, he was calling to tell me that I “have to contact an Audio/Visual company and arrange for the largest monitor I can get and money is no object!” Huh? He explained that he had a surprise video to be played at the onset of the wedding ceremony at the Neon Museum, but I absolutely had to sort the details out! Uh, ok. I’ll just add that to my already overwhelming list of things to do.

Back to the tasks at hand…off to buy booze! This all went well, but we ran VERY long and the florist supplying the flowers for the arrangements phoned to ask if I was going to be there soon, as she was closing in an hour. Huh??? I’m all the way across town and we have to drop the booze off at my friend’s house (the same one with the flaking hostess-chicks). I sent my bestie off to the house to drop the booze off, while I went off to race to the florist.

Somehow I made it…barely. Of course, there was a problem with the flowers, but by now, I’ve become really great at Plan B’s, so I was able to somehow deal with this latest ‘crisis’!

I headed back to the house where my best friend was. The plan was to get all the flowers into tubs of water and move on to the next tasks. By now it was nearly 5pm and Joe was calling me, sounding incredibly bored and a bit lost and lonely. “Don’t worry—I’ll be back to the hotel soon,” I told him. It was almost 8 by the time I arrived.

I was exhausted, but I knew my evening was just beginning. I had all those gift bags to prepare. Ugh.

Joe realized I was going to be anything but fun at that point and he’d stayed in the room all day, so he was chomping at the bit to get out. Some of our friends were downstairs at the bar, so Joe went downstairs to meet up with them, while I began the tedious task of assembling the gift bags.

Just as I was to begin setting things up, I realized that the bags I’d ordered were the wrong size. WTF was I thinking?!?!? So, at 10:30 at night, I was heading off to Target in the hopes of finding 40-some gift bags that would not be hideous. Target closed at 11 and I arrived with only five minutes to spare. And guess what??? They actually had the very same bags I’d ordered (which were too big), in the right size! AND they had exactly the number I needed! See! Things WERE finally going my way!

I promise...we're REALLY getting to the wedding, so stay tuned!
